Dr. Sayf Aldeen Kassab Bashi is a Fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeon with over 15 years of clinical experience spanning trauma surgery, joint replacement, and complex reconstructive procedures. He is currently serving as Clinical Director of the Orthopedic Department at Mosul General Hospital, where he leads a multidisciplinary surgical team committed to the highest standards of patient care.
A passionate academic and educator, Dr. Kassab ranked first nationally in the competitive orthopedic training selection in 2014 and has since earned recognition from both the Iraqi Ministry of Health and Nineveh Health Directorate. His research and teaching activities continue to shape the next generation of orthopedic surgeons in Iraq.
Complex fracture management, polytrauma care, and emergency orthopedic interventions.
ACL reconstruction, meniscal preservation, and complex multiligamentous injuries.
Total and partial knee arthroplasty, hip replacements, and revision procedures.
Diagnosis and surgical treatment of paediatric musculoskeletal conditions.
Rotational experience in foot & ankle, hand, and spinal sub-specialties.
Active mentor and educator. Certified in Teaching Methods with international publication.
Leads and manages a full orthopedic team, oversees trauma and elective surgery, drives CPD initiatives for junior staff, and executes complex procedures including joint replacements and major trauma reconstruction.
Contributed as a trauma surgeon alongside visiting international surgeons, treating civilian injuries and neglected war-zone injuries from the recent conflict in northern Iraq.
Delivered full orthopedic care including fracture management, joint replacements, and paediatric orthopedics at district hospital level.
Completed a rigorous 5-year Arab Board training in orthopedic surgery, rotating through trauma care, foot & ankle, paediatrics, hand surgery, and spine.
Assisted in orthopedic surgeries, managed emergency and trauma cases, and provided post-operative care and routine orthopedic consultations.
Rotated through Medicine, Surgery, Paediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology gaining broad clinical experience.

Over the past few years, Dr. Kassab has cultivated a deep interest in soft tissue knee injuries, particularly ACL reconstructions, meniscal preservation, and complex multiligamentous injuries. His clinical experience has allowed him to appreciate not only the biomechanical intricacies of the knee joint but also the profound impact that timely and well-executed interventions can have on a patient's quality of life.
